Free Burma Alliance's (FBA) first fundraiser and advocacy event was a huge success. Hosted by FBA's Executive Director, filmmaker, Jeremy Taylor, the event was held at the world famous Friar's Club in New York City. Nearly two hundred people, including the press, attended.

Co-produced by Network 355's founder, Elena Tchainikova, the evening's entertainment included a traditional Burmese dancer, magician Oz Pearlman, hilarious comedian Yannis Pappas and violinist diva, Sarina, who was the hit of the evening. Also, the trailer from the Taylor documentary "Burma: An Indictment" was screened. Authentic Burmese dishes were served as well as an open bar.

The April 7, 2010 event raised $20,000 to provide food, shelter, education and medical care for orphaned Burmese children who made it to safety in Thailand. A portion of the funds raised will be donated to The Mae Tao Clinic and Heroes Serving Humanity. These groups have a tremendous impact on these refugees and the internally displaced persons hiding in the Burmese jungle. For example, five thousand dollars donated to the clinic provides 869 children with malaria testing and treatment or school supplies for 1,250 children for one year.

The event was a complete success. It went far beyond expectations in raising money and signaling the start of the Free Burma Alliance (FBA).
